Responsibilities
Student Information Management: Maintaining accurate and confidential student records (enrollment, attendance, grades, health, etc.) within the student information system (SIS).
Parent Communication: Serving as the primary point of contact for parents, answering inquiries, and disseminating information about school policies, events, and student progress.
Office Management: Overseeing the daily operations of the school office, including managing supplies, mail, and the front desk area.
Staff Support: Providing administrative assistance to teachers, administrators, and other staff members (e.g., preparing materials, scheduling meetings, managing communications).
Financial Management: Handling school finances, including processing payments, managing budgets (potentially student activity funds), and tracking expenses.
Communication and Correspondence: Managing school-wide communications, such as sending emails, newsletters, and announcements to parents and staff.
Attendance Tracking: Monitoring student attendance, recording absences, and communicating with parents regarding attendance issues.
Requirements
Proficiency with Technology: This includes experience with student information systems (SIS), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), and other relevant software and technology used in a school setting.
Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a diverse range of individuals, including parents, students, teachers, administrators, and community members. This includes strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as active listening and empathy.
Strong Organizational and Time Management Skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. School offices are often busy places, requiring excellent organizational abilities.
Ability to Maintain Confidentiality: Handling sensitive student and family information requires a high degree of discretion, professionalism, and adherence to privacy regulations (FERPA).
