Description

We are currently seeking to hire a boat Captain to support vessel operations and maintenance at Tyndall Air Force Base, overseeing the navigation and operations of range vessels that provide military target systems retrieval, dive operations, and launch corridor clearance. The vessels will include multiple 120-foot missile retriever boats, 25-foot range patrol boats, and smaller dive boats. The Captain will report to the Program Manager on site and will lead approximately 12 – 15 vessel crew members. 


The following job functions are basic requirements (but other duties may be assigned, as well):


· Command and operate 120-ft Missile Retriever (MR) vessels and 25-ft range patrol boats in support of aerial target retrieval operations, dive support missions, launch corridor clearance operations, and other missions up to 200 nautical miles offshore

· Navigate safely in Gulf waters and restricted zones.

· Ensure compliance with all USCG regulations and Air Force safety directives during vessel operation.

· Lead and supervise 6-person crews, including mates, engineers, deckhands, and divers.

· Ensure all personnel adhere to mission safety protocols, including HAZMAT handling and weather-related contingencies.

· Maintain effective communication with shore station, mission commanders, and other vessels.

· Prepare and maintain mission logs.

· Respond to emergent mission needs, including severe weather preparations, anti-terrorism surveillance boat support, and emergency recoveries involving hazardous materials (HAZMAT).

· Implement environmental protection practices including fuel spill prevention and vessel cleaning per base protocols.

· Report mechanical deficiencies and coordinate with engineering crew for corrective actions.

Requirements

· MMC credential: USCG 200-ton Master license.

· TWIC card.

· Minimum of three (3) years in Maritime Industry as a qualified vessel Master with common knowledge of marine operations and navigation.

· Familiarity with SCUBA/dive operations, corridor clearance, and target retrieval procedures.

· Experience in a military environment preferred, working with the military on a military facility.

· Expert level understanding of all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

· Must be capable of lifting 50 pounds (lbs).

· All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.

· U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Secret Clearance prior to start date and maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.

· Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
