Description
The Production Manager is responsible for the management of all aspects of warehouse production operations, including the loading and unloading of materials from company trucks and contractors into the warehouse, forklift operation, processing unloaded material, shipping/receiving, inventory management, maintenance, and general cleaning.
The Production Manager is a proactive, strategic thinker, and problem solver whose skills contribute to the efficient, systematic, and profitable operation of the company’s production department. The position will provide overall leadership and direction to direct reports responsible for production, distribution logistics, and maintenance operations. The Manager will implement strategies to increase efficiency, maintain quality, and ensure continuous improvement while leading and growing the team.
This position reports to the Operations Manager of the unit.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other responsibilities may be assigned):
- Directs daily production operations of the department and participates in all aspects of warehouse/production, including operating forklifts and bailers.
- Manages all warehouse staff: hire, train, schedule, assign, discipline, conduct performance reviews, and recommend salary adjustments and/or promotions.
- Oversees the maintenance of the facilities, equipment, and supplies.
- Monitors equipment and implements improvements to maintain warehouse productivity and efficiency.
- Maintains warehouse safety programs in order to provide a safe and clean workplace for employees within the regulations of all OSHA, local, and state laws.
- Manages disposal of waste and recyclables.
- Analyzes and implements process flow improvements, to include capabilities for growth.
- Monitors and reports production key performance indicators (KPIs) and manages inventory.
- Meets production goals while adhering to the labor and equipment budget.
- Manages inventory, invoicing, and loading for outgoing shipping.
- Coordinates inventory movement between satellite facilities
- Prepares warehouse productivity reports for management.

QUALIFICATION/COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Associates degree or two (2) additional years of experience in the field.
- Minimum Experience: Four (4+) years of warehouse, manufacturing, shipping and receiving, or logistics experience; Three (3+) years of supervisory experience preferably in a similar setting.
- Forklift experience required, OSHA Forklift certification preferred.
- Industrial equipment maintenance and/or bailer operation experience preferred.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license and be insurable according to Planet Aid’s guidelines.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, supervisors, and employees. Must be able to read, speak, write and understand Basic English. Spanish skills preferred.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint. Ability to operate bin scale system for truck unloading. Ability to use fork truck for loading/ unloading.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk and bend. The employee is regularly required to lift and/or move up to or, rarely, more than 75 pounds repetitively. The employee must be able to move and lift heavy and/or bulky items from one location to another. The employee may be required to walk or stand for long periods of time.
