Miller International, Inc., designer of Cinch® and Cruel®, is searching for its newest team member at our headquarters in Denver, Colorado! Our next Product Development Coordinator and Technical Designer Admin will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the Product Development team.

Salary:    $21.63 - $24.04 Per Hour

As a Product Development Coordinator and Technical Designer Admin, you would be responsible for:

  • Preparing sketches, detailed drawings, illustrations, artwork, or blueprints using drafting instruments, paints and brushes, or computer-aided design equipment.
  • Modify and refine designs, using samples, to conform to designer/manufacturer specifications, production limitations, or changes in design trends.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of design ideas, based on factors such as appearance, safety, function, serviceability, budget, production costs/methods, and market characteristics.
  • Confer with product development, marketing, production, or sales departments, or with designers/manufacturers, to establish and evaluate design concepts for manufactured products.
  • Present designs and reports to designers/manufacturers for approval and discuss the need for modification.
  • Research production specifications, costs, production materials, and manufacturing methods, and provide cost estimates and itemized production requirements.
  • Direct and coordinate the fabrication of models or samples and the drafting of working drawings and specification sheets from sketches.
  • Investigate product characteristics, including its market appeal, production efficiency, distribution, use, and maintenance.
  • Develop manufacturing procedures and monitor the manufacture of our designs in a factory to improve operations and product quality.
  • Participate in new product planning and market research, including assessing market demand for new products.
  • Read publications, attend showings, and study competing products, design styles, and motifs to gain perspective and generate design concepts.
  • Fabricate models using Illustrator, Photoshop, and Product Lifecycle Management.
  • Coordinate the look and function of product lines.
  • Lead fit sessions and take initiative as the fit expert for specific products.
  • Advise designers and manufacturers on product development issues.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or university and 3 to 5 years of related experience required.
  • Experience in the apparel or textile industry
  • Intermediate knowledge of fabrics, construction, finishes, trims, fitting, and techniques.
  • Intermediate knowledge of patternmaking, including grading, construction, and fit.
  • Ability to produce computer-generated technical sketches.
  • Proficiency in Tech Pack development.
  • Working knowledge of the development process and how it relates to other cross-functional departments within the organization (i.e., design, merchandising, customer relations, and sales).
  • Creative problem solving; Strong analytical skills
  • Very detail-oriented; high degree of accuracy
  • Highly organized with outstanding follow-up skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes
  • High sense of urgency; Comfortable being driven by deadlines
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, and Outlook), Illustrator, Photoshop, and Product Lifecycle Management.
  • Quickly able to learn new skills
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of MS Excel, Word, Adobe, and PLM.
