Position Overview:
The Financial Counselor provides high quality and customer service to patients, providers and staff in a caring and supportive manner. Deliver and/or assist with financial counseling sessions with clients regarding their healthcare needs. Supports clinical staff and providers with obtaining patient paperwork and/ or patient care as needed.
A Day in the Life:
- Establish and maintain Communication, Collaboration to promote a therapeutic relationship with patients and colleagues. Maintains a professional attitude.
- Execute teamwork, actively promotes and contributes to a positive work environment. Maintaining proactive communication to ensure efficient, accurate and timely responses to internal/external customer needs.
- Acquire Washington Health Care Authorization Navigator Certification with quarterly training/recertify.
- Advise and assist patients with completion of receiving insurance through WAH and AEM program.
- Review Financial Policy communicate terms for full comprehension of payment expectations to provide estimates for patients.
- Receive financial assistance data with completion of the final review and approval process line out in the financial policy.
- Arrange and assist with outpatient appointments for hospital departments.
- Require collaborate with Revenue Cycle team to ensure financial compliance.
- Personal Education: Accountable to stay current with the changes in professionalism and hospital policy. Completion of regulatory and departmental annual competencies within the timeframe set by the organization.
- Accountable to Demonstrate Work Effectiveness through safe completion of assigned tasks in a timely manner.

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent communication skills with colleagues and customers.
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Ability to manage time, tasks, and resources appropriately.
- Ability to learn technology in a timely manner.
- Ability to read, write, and understand policies, labels, and written instructions.
