Environmental Internship – Waste Connections

Are you passionate about environmental compliance and eager to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic industry? Waste Connections is seeking a motivated intern to join our Environmental team and support key compliance and sustainability initiatives.

Location: Vancouver, WA
Duration: 12 weeks; flexible start dates depending on school schedule
Schedule: Monday-Friday ~30 hours a week, $20/hr.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and maintain environmental documentation and regulatory files.
• Assist in drafting, proofreading, and managing responses to regulatory agencies.
• Support internal audits and regulatory site visits, ensuring readiness and compliance.
• Help prepare sites for environmental sample collection and inspections.
• Participate in stormwater season preparation, including site evaluations and equipment readiness.
• Manage and update stormwater tracking tools and data logs.
• Review and interpret SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan) permits to ensure site compliance.

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
