POSITION SUMMARY

The DSP for the Residential & Day Program is responsible for performing the skills, training activities or services to client in a safe, effective, healthful and respectful manner. This position starts shift, providing direct client care, in the residential site, transports individuals to day program, provides direct client care in day program, and transports individuals back to residential site.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

Responsible for direct client care to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities in both the residential and day program settings.

  • Performs personal care tasks, including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, toileting, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks.
  • With agency vehicle, transports individuals at assigned residential home to/from day program location.
  • Fosters positive relationships with individuals served.
  • Ensures client safety and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Administer medications and first aid as needed.

Perform skill training activities or service provisions in a safe, effective, respectful and healthful manner as outlined in each client's Implementation Strategy.  

. 

Observe, document, and communicate assigned program clients' behaviors and interactions. 

Respect the privacy, confidentiality and property of clients. 

Maintains ethical and professional boundaries. 

Keeps and maintains appropriate and required records, including daily logs, goal tracking, behavior tracking, and completion of SIR’s, if needed

Understands and follows appropriate policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. 

Regular, reliable, predictable attendance. 

When an outing is scheduled, transport clients in agency vehicle. 

Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

Education:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required

 

 

Experience:

No prior experience necessary

 

Computer Skills:

Electronic Health Record (EHR), Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook

Licenses:

 

 

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

    Valid regular Illinois driver's license with a responsible driving record and proof of vehicle insurance
