Students at our welding schools are provided with all the materials they need to hone their skills as they practice, practice, practice in our welding lab!
Your primary role as Cutter will be to keep those materials flowing. The successful applicant will ensure that our welding students have access to all the consumables they need to help them successfully move through their program.
You will cut pipe and plate coupons for our students to work with, distributing materials to them in an efficient manner to make sure they are prepared for class. You will ensure that the rod ovens are full, and that our students have all the consumables they need to participate fully in the welding lab.
Role Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Training and working primarily in the welding lab, you will:
- Cut pipe/plate for students to use in the welding lab.
- Keep the rod ovens full.
- Pass material out to students.
- Ensure the cutting area is clean.
- Communicate with students and coworkers.
- Dump trash and scrap bins.
One of the highlights of working at our school is attending our semi-annual graduation ceremonies, watching students walk the stage as they complete their program; attendance is mandatory.
Required Knowledge, Education, and Experience:
The successful applicant will have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED; you also must have effective communication skills.
People Responsibilities:
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Environment:
The majority of your work will be performed in a welding lab environment:
- You may sit for periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.
- You may be required to use calculators, keyboards, phones, and other office equipment as needed.
- Please be aware that stooping, bending, twisting, and reaching may be required
- Some work may be completed in a classroom environment.
- You can expect wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
- You will sometimes be required to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
