What You'll Be Doing: Core Responsibilities
As the Grinding and Tool Room Attendant reporting to the Production Supervisor, you'll be the backbone of two crucial areas: scrap plastic processing and tool inventory management.
Grinding Department Duties:
- Process Scrap Material: Perform all required grinding of scrap material efficiently.
- Material Organization: Accurately identify, tag, and weigh regrind barrels and gaylords using a warehouse scale.
- Maintenance: Open and clean the grinding machines to keep them running optimally.
- Logistics: Utilize your forklift license to maneuver materials within the grinding department. Don't have a forklift license? That's OK! We'll train you!
Tool Room Duties:
- Inventory Control: Issue, receive, and safely store essential tools and equipment.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of tool use and inventory levels, reporting data, issues, or suggestions to the Tooling Development Manager.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect tools and equipment for wear or defects using precision instruments (e.g., mylars, pin gauges, calipers, micrometers) and clean them upon return.
- Production Support: Work with the scheduling team daily to prepare Set-Up Carts needed for production operations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, strictly following daily housekeeping and 5S standards.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, helping to make our company a more efficient, safer, and enjoyable place to work.
Requirements
What You'll Need to Bring: Qualifications Required
- Education: High School Diploma or GED is required (or a suitable combination of education and experience).
- License: Forklift License or willingness to learn how to drive a Forklift.
- Core Skills:
- Exceptional organizational and follow-up skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to accurately use a Warehouse Scale.
Preferred Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment (or a strong desire to learn!)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Knowledge of 5S/Lean Manufacturing/Kan-ban principles.
Physical Demands & Workplace Environment
- You must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand in one place and perform continuous, repetitive movements for up to an entire shift.
- Willingness to work in a typical production environment where safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe shoes are required, and the presence of various plastic or purging odors may occur.
