What You'll Do
As a Glass Estimator, you will play a vital role in the pre-construction process. You'll review architectural drawings and project specifications to evaluate time, labor, and material requirements, ultimately preparing competitive and accurate estimates for commercial glass projects. You'll perform detailed takeoffs, analyze costs, and ensure that every bid aligns with project goals and budget expectations. Attending pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs may be part of your routine, as will maintaining clear communication with contractors, vendors, project managers, and field personnel.
You'll follow up with contractors and vendors to ensure bids are received on time and reflect the scope accurately. Developing and maintaining strong business relationships will be essential as you represent Omni's values of integrity, quality, and service in every interaction.
What You'll Need
To succeed in this position, you should have the ability to read and interpret architectural blueprints and construction specifications. An associate degree or equivalent experience in construction estimating is required, with one to five years of relevant industry experience being ideal. You'll need to be comfortable with Microsoft Office programs like Excel, Outlook, and Word, and possess strong math, measurement, and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication, a high attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are also essential. You should be flexible to work additional hours as project demands require.
