Administrator of Engineering & Planning

Position Duties

Under general direction, supervises environmental and engineering staff activities. Oversees and directs the performance of environmental and engineering studies, designs, inspections, and construction activities. Interfaces with various governmental agencies to ensure departmental compliance with regulatory requirements. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Manage the physical assets of the Division.
  •   Ensure managers and engineers/designers are following relevant federal, state, local, and industry laws, statutes and standards and are meeting customers' specifications. 
  • Monitor the performance of environmental and engineering studies, designs, inspections, and construction activities.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of creativity, foresight, and judgment in planning, organizing, and guiding extensive engineering programs and activities. 
  • Make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have a far-reaching impact on extensive engineering and related activities of the Division. 
  •  Manage the following groups:
    • Capital Projects
    •  Plan Review 
    • Advanced Planning/Hydraulics 
    • Distribution Inspection 
    • Engineering Administration
Preferred Qualifications:
  •  Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with an Ohio P.E. registration; A Master’s degree is preferred.
  •  Five years of experience as an engineering manager.   
  • Five years of progressive experience managing capital improvement projects.
  • Ten years of work experience in the public utilities sector. 
  • Deep knowledge of industry relevant codes and standards.
  • General disciplinary knowledge of civil, electrical, mechanical, and water hydraulics engineering.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point) and AutoCAD
