Position Overview:

The Recruiting and Onboarding Specialist (ROS) plays a pivotal role in identifying, attracting, and onboarding top talent across all organizational levels, both hourly and salaried. This individual will develop and execute dynamic sourcing strategies, cultivate candidate pipelines, and deliver a high-touch recruitment experience that aligns with business needs and company culture. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and a strong ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 


**Please note: This is an on-site position located in Loris, SC and will travel to surrounding DCs to conduct new hire onboarding.**



Key Responsibilities:

1. Recruitment Strategy & Sourcing Execution:

  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Manager (HRM) to design and execute cost-effective, scalable recruitment strategies aligned with business needs.
  • Source candidates across all organizational levels (exempt and non-exempt) using a variety of platforms including online job boards, professional networks, blogs, industry-specific associations, and regional workforce resources.
  • Build and maintain proactive pipelines of qualified and diverse talent through continuous market research and relationship-building.
  • Evaluate candidates for geographic and organizational fit across all DMA locations using standardized hiring criteria and recruitment best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date applicant tracking data and generate regular recruitment status reports for HR leadership and senior management.
  • Maintain and publish the recruiting KPI scorecard and dashboard to monitor performance metrics.


2. Job Advertising & Employer Branding:

  • Partner with hiring managers to conduct position needs assessments and develop compelling, accurate job descriptions and advertisements.
  • Ensure all open positions are consistently posted across company platforms (intranet, website) and external channels (e.g., Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Handshake, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Promote DMA’s employer brand through targeted outreach and consistent messaging in job postings and communications.


3. Candidate Screening & Interview Coordination:

  • Review applications and screen candidates to assess qualifications, interest, and alignment with company values.
  • Utilize video conferencing tools for initial interviews and to support early-stage candidate evaluations.
  • Prepare detailed candidate information packages to assist hiring managers in conducting effective interviews.
  • Coordinate all interview stages, including scheduling, logistics, and travel arrangements for on-site interviews.
  • Facilitate post-interview debrief sessions with hiring managers to gather feedback and determine next steps in the process.
  • Provide timely follow-up to candidates throughout the hiring lifecycle, ensuring a positive candidate experience.


4. Recruitment Events & Community Engagement:

  • Plan, organize, and represent the company at job fairs, hiring events, and university outreach programs.
  • Engage with local organizations (e.g., Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development Groups, SCDEW, NCWorks) to expand sourcing networks and attract regional talent.
  • Travel to recruitment events as required, including overnight stays based on event locations.


5. Onboarding Support & Hiring Manager Guidance:

  • Support hiring managers by guiding them through the interviewing and selection process to ensure alignment with hiring best practices.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure a smooth onboarding process that promotes engagement and early retention.
  • Collaborate on the planning of pre-employment logistics and post-offer follow-up to prepare new hires for successful integration.


6. Special Projects & Compliance:

  • Participate in strategic HR initiatives related to recruitment, process optimization, and talent acquisition best practices.
  • Ensure full compliance with internal policies and all federal/state regulations throughout the recruiting and onboarding processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date records for open positions and track recruitment-related documentation as required.


7. Additional Responsibilities:

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



Reporting Structure:

  • Reports to the Human Resources Manager.
  • This position has no direct reports.


Requirements

Key Requirements:

  • Recruiting Experience: Minimum 3 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, including sourcing, screening, and coordinating interviews for both hourly and salaried roles. Experience in manufacturing, distribution, retail, or other high-volume hiring environment is a plus.
  • Onboarding Expertise: Demonstrated experience coordinating and facilitating onboarding processes that create a positive and engaging new hire experience. Ability to manage pre-employment logistics, schedule orientation sessions, and ensure timely completion of required documentation and training in alignment with company policies.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple requisitions, meet deadlines, and build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Knowledge: Solid understanding of recruitment best practices, candidate evaluation techniques, and onboarding processes. Familiarity with employment regulations and EEO guidelines is preferred.
  • Technology: Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS), video conferencing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with Paylocity or comparable HRIS is a plus.



Physical Requirements:

The role is primarily office-based with occasional visits to the distribution centers (DCs), attend job fairs, attend university outreach programs, attend community recruiting events, and hold orientation/onboarding events at DCs. The physical demands listed below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Mobility: Ability to move about a professional office setting and periodically navigate warehouse environments, including walking on concrete floors, climbing stairs, and traversing between warehouse areas and office spaces.
  • Standing and Walking: Must be able to stand and walk for short durations during DC visits (typically 1–2 hours at a time).
  • Lifting and Carrying: Occasionally may need to lift or carry items such as laptop computers, training materials, or small office supplies up to 15 pounds.
  • Posture and Motion: Frequent sitting for extended periods at a computer workstation; occasional reaching, bending, and stooping when accessing file drawers or office supplies.
  • Vision and Hearing: Adequate visual and auditory acuity for computer use, report review, and verbal communication in both quiet office and moderate-noise warehouse environments.
  • Work Environment: While office work is conducted in a climate-controlled environment, occasional DC visits for recruiting and orientation/onboarding may involve exposure to varying temperatures, moderate noise, and active warehouse operations.



Travel Requirements:

This position requires approximately 25% travel between DMA's distribution centers, attend job fairs, university outreach programs, and community recruiting events.
