Job Responsibilities:
- Assist the Safety Manager with safety audits and daily walk throughs to ensure Team Members are working in a safe manner
- Evaluate, Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect Team Members from hazardous work conditions
- Inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices to ensure that Team Members follow safety standards and government regulations
- Help prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action
- Assist with incident investigations (including near misses) to determine root cause and prepare corrective and preventative action plans for OSHA reporting
- Work with plant leadership at all levels on issues involving safety and proper PPE
- Report and document complaints, problems, or unusual occurrences immediately to the Safety Manager
- Provide detailed information back to management that are crucial to safety operations and meeting OSHA guidelines
- Review OSHA logs to identify trends and make recommendations
- As a certified first responder, provide first aid / CPR to Team Members
- Educate Team Members about workplace safety by preparing and providing training programs and demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment
- Assist with ergonomics assessments, assist in managing HAZMAT and chemical storage programs, and evaluate fire prevention plans
- Service and support the inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems per NFPA
- Comply with all Company rules, regulations and policies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum of High school diploma/GED preferred
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a safety focused position
- Previous Safety experience in a Production and/or warehouse environment preferred, food manufacturing a plus
- Able to work overtime and weekends when needed
- Willing to become a Certified First Responder
- Prior experience working with OSHA logs and doing safety audits
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred

Work Environment:
- Individual will be subject to production and warehouse environment approximately 85 percent of the work time (Wet environment with temperatures in the range of 38 to 40 degrees)
- Medium/High noise levels from operating machines
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
- Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food Manufacturing (GMP’s) processes
Physical Requirements:
- Use hands to find, handle, touch and manipulate items
- Speak and/or hear
- Stand for extended periods, walk and reach with hands or arms
- Occasionally stoop, reach, crouch, twist and walk
- Have vision abilities to include proximate vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus as well as be able to effectively see and process computer generated images on a screen
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
