Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Safety Manager with safety audits and daily walk throughs to ensure Team Members are working in a safe manner
  • Evaluate, Design and implement workplace processes and procedures that help protect Team Members from hazardous work conditions
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environment, equipment, and practices to ensure that Team Members follow safety standards and government regulations
  • Help prepare reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action
  • Assist with incident investigations (including near misses) to determine root cause and prepare corrective and preventative action plans for OSHA reporting
  • Work with plant leadership at all levels on issues involving safety and proper PPE
  • Report and document complaints, problems, or unusual occurrences immediately to the Safety Manager
  • Provide detailed information back to management that are crucial to safety operations and meeting OSHA guidelines
  • Review OSHA logs to identify trends and make recommendations
  • As a certified first responder, provide first aid / CPR to Team Members
  • Educate Team Members about workplace safety by preparing and providing training programs and demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment
  • Assist with ergonomics assessments, assist in managing HAZMAT and chemical storage programs, and evaluate fire prevention plans
  • Service and support the inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems per NFPA
  • Comply with all Company rules, regulations and policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High school diploma/GED preferred
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in a safety focused position
  • Previous Safety experience in a Production and/or warehouse environment preferred, food manufacturing a plus
  • Able to work overtime and weekends when needed
  • Willing to become a Certified First Responder
  • Prior experience working with OSHA logs and doing safety audits
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Bilingual in English / Spanish preferred

Travel:

  • No travel required

 Work Environment:

  • Individual will be subject to production and warehouse environment approximately 85 percent of the work time  (Wet environment with temperatures in the range of 38 to 40 degrees)
  • Medium/High noise levels from operating machines
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
  • Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food Manufacturing (GMP’s) processes

 Physical Requirements:

  • Use hands to find, handle, touch and manipulate items
  • Speak and/or hear
  • Stand for extended periods, walk and reach with hands or arms
  • Occasionally stoop, reach, crouch, twist and walk
  • Have vision abilities to include proximate vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus as well as be able to effectively see and process computer generated images on a screen
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
