About the Department

Carteret Community College is accepting applications for a part-time, permanent 12-month Administrative Assistant position for the Spa Services Program to provide comprehensive support to faculty, students, and staff by overseeing daily office operations, managing student data, and ensuring program effectiveness.  To apply, interested person will need to complete in full our online application and attach a resume and cover letter. Applications will be accepted through October 28, 2025.

Position Duties

  • Coordinate Spa Services schedules to ensure compliance with accrediting boards (Cosmetic Arts, NC LMBT, Barbering) and required standards, rules, and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records, including academic progress, program completions, and clock-hour status.
  • Manage front-line interactions, including answering calls, assisting walk-ins, and addressing inquiries from students, clients, faculty, and community partners.
  • Maintain financial processes, including tracking receipts, managing petty cash, and overseeing money bags for Spa Services programs.
  • Assist with departmental operations, including scheduling and documenting meetings, generating reports and correspondence, updating voicemails and signage, and organizing records.
  • Serves on College committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Attends required campus events, including graduation, professional development, & employee meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: Associate Degree in Office Administration
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
  • Three years of experience of providing administrative support. 
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures and equipment
  • Ability to work as a team member

      Preferred:

  • Proficiency using database management systems
  • Bilingual
  • Experience working in a post-secondary academic environment
  • Experience with Moodle, Colleague, DiscoveryPro and E-Procurement



Other Qualifications

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work requires periods of both prolonged sitting and standing, as well as occasional moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds unassisted. Work is generally carried out in an indoor setting. Special marketing events may sometimes take place outdoors.
