Overview & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Master Scheduler is responsible for overseeing the operations scheduling and coordination process for the shop floor. This role ensures projects are completed on time by managing schedules, monitoring job progress, and coordinating with various teams, including Operations, Engineering, and Project Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule Management: Continuously maintain the master schedule and individual project schedules to proactively identify and address potential bottlenecks or periods of low activity. Issue and update project schedules for both internal and customer use.

  • Production Oversight: Track the progress of jobs from start to finish while communicating updates with key stakeholders. Partner with the Shop Operations Manager for him to take necessary action (e.g., authorizing overtime, adjusting shifts, or outsourcing) to keep projects on schedule.

  • Communication & Collaboration: Serve as the primary point of contact for Project Managers, providing regular updates on project status. Communicate with the Shop Operations Manager to address capacity constraints and resource availability. Ensure the Shop Operations Manager is aware of critical path items and delivery dates.

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and direct the day-to-day activities of the expediter and S&R Department to ensure all deliveries are met.

  • Meeting Facilitation: Organize and facilitate production meetings, and deconflict issues as they arise.

  • Inventory Management: Direct Expediter to manage inventory and material requirements for all projects.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: A Bachelor's degree with five years of experience in production control, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of experience in a supervisory role is preferred.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient with basic PC skills and common software, including Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with programs like Lotus Notes, Vantage, Oracle, or Windchill is a plus.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of work scope structure, standard hours, durations, lead times, and key performance metrics such as utilization, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Personal Attributes: Must be self-motivated with the ability to manage difficult situations and meet demanding deadlines.
