Role Summary
The Director of Specialized Services leads all programming and compliance for scholars receiving specialized support across grades K–6. This role ensures high-quality implementation of IEPs, 504 Plans, medical plans, and intervention services, while partnering with families and school leaders to guarantee every scholar receives the services they need to thrive.
This leader manages processes, people, and partnerships to ensure services are compliant, student-centered, and aligned with Ethos Classical’s mission of excellence and joy.
Key Responsibilities
IEP & Special Education Leadership
- Oversee all IEP processes, timelines, and compliance requirements.
- Supervise and coach special education teachers and service providers.
- Ensure high-quality implementation of accommodations, modifications, and service minutes.
- Coordinate eligibility, reevaluation, and annual IEP meetings.
504 Plan Coordination
- Manage the development, renewal, and implementation of 504 Plans.
- Ensure accommodations are communicated clearly to teachers and implemented with fidelity.
- Lead family meetings and compliance documentation.
Medical & Health Plan Oversight
- Partner with the school nurse/medical team to manage health plans, medication documentation, seizure plans, allergy response, and emergency protocols.
- Ensure staff are trained to support scholars’ medical needs during the school day and on field trips.
Intervention & MTSS Supports
- Lead Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention planning and progress monitoring.
- Oversee academic and behavioral interventionists to ensure aligned, data-driven support.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders to align intervention with core instruction.
Family & Team Partnership
- Serve as the primary point of contact for families of scholars with IEPs, 504s, and medical plans.
- Communicate updates with clarity, urgency, and partnership.
- Collaborate with principals, teachers, and operations to ensure seamless service delivery.
Compliance & Data Management
- Maintain all timelines, records, evaluations, and documentation in alignment with federal, state, and district requirements.
- Ensure accurate data entry in the student information system and state reporting platforms.
Leadership & Management
- Lead a team that may include: special education teachers, paras, interventionists, service providers, and student services coordinators.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and clear expectations for excellence in service delivery.
- Train general education staff on compliance, accommodations, and inclusive practices.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field required.
- Current Special Education certification; leadership certification preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in special education, student services, or a related leadership role.
- Deep knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, MTSS, and Georgia education law.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage timelines, and build strong family partnerships.
