Frederick County Government is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Assistant to join our fast-paced HR Department. From greeting visitors and supporting department leaders to maintaining accurate HR records and assisting with employee programs, this position is at the heart of our team’s success.

Core Hours

Monday - Friday 
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Position Duties

Key Responsibilities

As a HR Assistant, you will:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for the HR Department, handling calls, visitors, and departmental communications with professionalism.
  • Process and maintain accurate employee records, HR documentation, and data entry in systems.
  • Support talent acquisition activities, including preparing new hire materials and assisting with orientations.
  • Assist with HR functions such as benefits, employee relations, learning & development, and compliance support across all employee levels.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including scheduling, organizing projects, and maintaining office operations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1+ year of administrative or HR experience required.
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality, use discretion, and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to multitask, stay organized, and highly motivated.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook & Teams) and other CRM or HRIS technical software systems.
