Position Summary

Orange EV’s Vehicle Safety and Compliance Department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Regulatory Compliance Engineer. Reporting directly to the Vehicle Safety and Compliance Manager, you will utilize data-driven research and analysis to help ensure that Orange EV’s past, present, and future model trucks are safe and compliant, to maximize overall product quality, customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, and repeat purchase of Orange EV Trucks.

 

Position Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review/investigate customer complaints, warranty, field data, and organize for reporting
  • Monitor field remedies for effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with early warning reporting.
  • Conduct thorough root cause investigations of suspect safety defects or noncompliance events to build supporting documentation for determinations
  • Compile necessary vehicle and powertrain documentation for yearly CARB and EPA certifications
  • Facilitate Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) Assignments for upcoming production
  • Coordinate, implement, track, and analyze new and existing Federal Motor Vehicle Safety (FMVSS), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and zero-emission regulatory requirements for Class 8 Truck Tractors 

 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth reviews of federal, state, and other applicable laws and regulations and provide interpretations of those laws and regulations, including Canada and future markets, as necessary
  • Collaborate with numerous internal teams, including Legal, Program Management, Corporate Development, Engineering, Process Engineering, and Quality, during product development to assist in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Lead field remedy campaign activities, including Safety Recall Campaigns and Zero Emission Powertrain Recall Campaigns. Support Field Service with Special Service Campaigns, Limited Service Campaigns, and Warranty Extension Campaigns
  • Organize and manage tasks specific to regulatory compliance through Jira Software
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Position Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical materials and communicate to non-technical audiences effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus by communicating effectively through written and verbal means to various audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • High level of organization managing multiple tasks of various sizes on different schedules with ever-changing levels of priority
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues and plan; proactive work ethic
  • Conduct daily activities with integrity and professionalism
  • Proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams

 

Ideal Candidates Will Also Have

  • Experience and knowledge in interpreting FMVSS, FMCSA, and other automotive and transportation regulations, including similar regulations in Canada
  • Proven expertise in data-driven problem solving and process improvement (PDCA, RC/CM, TBP, DMAIC, etc.)
  • Understanding of dealership service, parts, and warranty operations and processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of the vehicle manufacturing and quality assurance processes
  • Basic knowledge of Jira Software

  • Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards
