Position Duties

GENERAL SUMMARY

This position is grant funded for the 2025-2026 academic year, and contingent upon continued funding. 

The student services components of the High School Diploma Program are operated and supervised by the Admissions, Recruitment and Outreach (ARO) department. The ARO department serves as the first point of contact for potential students expressing an interest in the Community College of Denver. The department is the primary resource for new, readmit, and transfer in student enrollment. The department coordinates recruitment and student outreach efforts on campus, in community settings, and online.   

This position promotes the High School Diploma Program as an alternative pathway to college education for any eligible adult learners. The role provides general admissions navigation, onboarding, registration counseling, and career guidance. This includes rapport-building with external stakeholders—both individual learners and organizational partners. The navigator communicates regularly with potential students via phone, SMS/text, email communications, web conferencing, and face-to-face interactions under the guiding philosophy “recruit to retain” and increases student enrollment and retention. The role will also serve as a recruitment liaison between community/organizational partners and the HS Diploma Program.  

PRIMARY DUTIES

Recruitment, Pre-Enrollment, and Registration 

  • Provide a sense of belonging and connectedness to CCD, assist in HSDP/college navigation in admissions and registration advising. 
  • Proactively manage a pipeline of prospective students and support their progress through the onboarding process. 
  • Promote and understand academic pathways/programs at CCD to better facilitate enrollment. 
  • Assist in the organization and management of recruitment and onboarding events. 
  • Maintain accurate electronic records that will conform with stated data integrity principles. 
  • Operate reliably in individual or group settings, using various means of technology.  
  • Collaborate effectively with different internal departments that contribute to the HSDP student experience. 

Student Support and Retention  

  • Utilize various electronic platforms to document, track, case manage, goal set and communicate with prospective and current students as well as staff.  
  • Partner proactively with other departments throughout the college, planning and participating in recruitment and registration events, and serving on key college committees/taskforces. 
  • Provide multilingual support as appropriate.  

Career Exploration and Navigation 

  • Administer and interpret Myers-Briggs SuperStrong and Strong Assessments to support career exploration and navigation. 
  • Collaborate with ARO Career Navigator(s) to host Myers-Briggs SuperStrong and Strong Assessment workshops. 
  • Collaborate with ARO Career Navigator(s) to develop and host Career Readiness/Growth workshops (e.g., resume/cover letter writing, job searching and shortlisting, mock interviews, salary negotiation, etc.). 
  • Use state/local resources and new/existing partnerships to facilitate career transition in conjunction with CCD Academic Pathways. 

Community & Organizational Partner Engagement  

  • Seek and initiate partnerships between the college/HSDP and organizational/community partners whose populations could benefit from adult learning opportunities. 
  • Conduct and/or facilitate group recruitment workshops as determined. 
  • Help manage relationships with external community/organizational partners. 
  • Track and report disaggregated student cohort progress data to organizational/community partners. 

Process Development and Continuous Improvement 

  • Identify opportunities to improve established practices/processes/policies and propose viable alternatives to test with approval from program leadership. 
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve problems negatively impacting the student experience and/or the college. 
  • Co-create new SOPs meant to support program growth and standardize positive outcomes. 

Team-building and Student Employee Supervision/Mentorship 

  • Participate in and improve the selection process for student-work study employees 
  • Train, coach, mentor, and develop multiple student work-study employees hired to support student recruitment. 
  • Contribute to team-building activities and exercises designed to improve business unit effectiveness.  
  • Co-develop standardized learning content for new hire training and development.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Education:(Minimum/Required) 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

Experience: (Minimum/Required)

One year of professional experience in higher education, education technology, government, international relations & development, non-profit, social or human services settings. 

Bilingual. Fluency in English and Spanish OR Fluency in English and Arabic.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (required/minimum)

  • Superior interpersonal, analytical and communication skills, both written and verbal.    
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects.   
  • Confidence working with high volume outreach and providing exceptional service 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities; familiarity with historic, cultural, and socio-economic dynamics known to impact communities.  
  • Knowledge of college admissions and/or customer/client onboarding processes 
  • Comfortable with public speaking and formal presentations to different audiences/stakeholders 
  • Ability to exude a charismatic presence and maintain a positive demeanor when interfacing with all stakeholders 
  • General understanding of High School Equivalency education in Colorado (i.e., GED, HiSET)


Education: (preferred) 

Bachelor’s degree earned in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Human Services, Business, and Communications.


Experience: (preferred)

Two or more years of professional experience in higher education, education technology, government, international relations & development, non-profit, social or human services settings.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (preferred)

  • Knowledge of electronic information systems and platforms, such as Banner, CRM Recruit, and EAB Navigate. 
  • Knowledge of electronic productivity/collaboration tools: Zoom, MS Teams, Google Hangouts, etc. 
  • Strong computer skills with MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and relational databases desired.


Licensure/Certification: (required)

Valid US driver’s license.

Equipment Used: Personal computer, fax, phone, copier.


Other Considerations: Willingness to travel, periodic evening and weekend hours. Capable of standing (or idling while stationary) for long periods.
