The Penguin Random House Publishing Services team, a division of Penguin Random House dedicated to providing the highest level of sales and distribution to a variety of independent publishers, is seeking a sales assistant to provide support to a team of five and a select roster of client publishers. If you run your life with color-coded spreadsheets and thrive on creative problem-solving, this could be a great fit for you! Strong follow-through and the ability to adapt to shifting needs and priorities will be key to success in this role. This position provides the opportunity to work closely with a wide variety of publishers and develop deep familiarity with the complete sales cycle of a book, from the time a title is first launched, through its on-sale date, and into its transition into backlist.

 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manages the collection, tracking, and maintenance of materials from publishers across seasonal, monthly, weekly, and daily deadlines concurrently.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with client publishers, serving as a key contact for meeting dates and deadlines, sales estimates, digital promotions, metadata, and other general queries.
  • Schedules, coordinates, and attends seasonal and regular meetings with publishers; acts as online meeting host to manage virtual attendees and drive presentations.
  • Collaborates with both internal and external stakeholders to disseminate title & sales information, gather & share feedback, and improve standard processes and procedures.
  • Prepares and edits sales reports, presentations, and other documentation as needed.
  • Lends administrative support to the broader department as needed.

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects with outstanding prioritization and follow-through
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Self-starter with enthusiasm and ability to take initiative, and confidence to work in partnership with a wide range of contacts
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and an eagerness and ability to learn new applications
  • Experience in a customer service/support role, bookselling, or publishing a plus

 

The salary for this position is $51,000.00. All positions are currently eligible for an annual profit award or bonus, subject to company results.
