Job Description:

I. Position Summary: 

The  Project Director (PD) will coordinate communication for the activities of the National Institutes of Aging Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease and Related Dementia (AD/ADRD) Health Care Systems Collaboratory (‘IMPACT Collaboratory’); a nationwide infrastructure established in 2019 to increase the nationwide capacity to conduct pragmatic clinical trials embedded in real-world care environments for people living with dementia and their caregivers. The PD will also have administrative responsibilities for coordinating activities of IMPACT. The PD will work under the direction and report to the Communications Team Lead, IMPACT’s Principal Investigator or other senior faculty on the IMACT team. This position is grant-funded and continued employment is contingent upon ongoing funding.

The PD will facilitate and coordinate communications and branding activities, write and facilitate email campaigns, manage monthly Grand Rounds and podcasts as well as periodic webinars and special events, play critical role in creating and formatting documents and presentations, ensuring consistent use of IMPACT messaging and branding. The PD will liaise with researchers from across the country to collect and share information related to IMPACT initiatives and develop content for circulation via email, websites and social media.  The PD will also have responsibilities for scheduling and coordinating meetings related to IMPACT. He/she will work on a small team, but will collaborate with researchers and their administrative assistants from across the nation. 

II. Core Competencies:

  • Strong Oral and Written Communication: Communicates to appropriate constituency/stakeholders at a professional level consistently reflecting IMPACT’s branding and mission.  Excellent writing competency to create public-facing materials communicating the IMPACT Collaboratory’s message and accomplishments.
  • Graphic and Visual Skills: Creates high quality illustrations, graphics, PowerPoint presentations and communications for the IMPACT website, national meeting presentations and external communications.
  • Computer and Technical Skills:  Works Proficiently with Microsoft Office Suite and communications and design software (e.g., Mailchimp, Outlook, Canva/Adobe creative Suite, Visio or similar platforms), Zoom conferencing and email marketing tools; experience with Smartsheet (or equivalent project management system) and familiarity with learning management systems.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Works effectively within a highly-collaborative team and across the organization to accomplish tasks and obtain desired results.

III. Position Responsibilities:

  • Communications Development: Design and produce research summaries, newsletters, reports, presentations, graphics, and website content.
  • Digital Campaigns: Plan and implement strategic digital communication campaigns to promote events, disseminate research, and strengthen engagement via social media and email using Outlook, Mailchimp, and related platforms.
  • Support Training Initiatives: Assist faculty with development of effective online training materials, contribute to content creation and manage workflows related to content development, and ensure effective management of an easily accessible learning management system.
  • Program Event Planning and Management: Coordinate and manage Collaboratory events, such as webinars, monthly grand rounds and podcasts, and conferences and training workshops.
  • Administrative Coordination: Manage meeting schedules, logistics, reimbursement processes, and program tracking.
  • Liaison & Collaboration: Serve as a point of contact for Collaboratory investigators, coordinate information flow and communications, and support ongoing collaboration.
  • Institutional Citizenship: As a member of HSL’s Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research, he/she will be expected to contribute as a good institutional citizen by supporting colleagues, sharing expertise, and helping advance the overall mission of the Institute.

IV Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in communications or public health or related field; bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience will be considered.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ professional experience in communications, research administration, or a related field; experience in academic, research or healthcare setting is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional writing, editing and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong organizational and project management skills with ability to manage multiple competing priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and communications and design software (e.g., Mailchimp, Outlook, Canva/Adobe creative Suite, Visio or similar platforms), Zoom conferencing and email marketing tools; experience with Smartsheet (or equivalent project management system) and familiarity with learning management systems.
  • Collaboration and Adaptability: Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility to adapt to evolving program needs; demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and external partners across institutions; excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Professionalism: Respect and professionalism regarding subjects’ rights, individual needs, and a working knowledge of HIPAA Protected Health Information regulations.
