POSITION OVERVIEW: This position reports to Quality Supervisor. It is solely accountable for the fulfillment of all assigned duties and has authority delegated commensurate with assigned responsibilities. This position is responsible for ensuring that the quality of the product meets customer expectations. Focus is on metrology layout of product and product testing. Perform work that involves conventional R&R gauge studies, SPC and PPAP layout. 


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Include, but are not limited to:

a) Perform incoming receiving inspection per SAP inspection plans.

b) Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T

c) Proficiently perform product layouts using granite surface, calipers, height gage, micrometers, indicators, protractors, FARO, hardness tester, and other measurement tools. 

d) Formally report measurement layout and test results.

e) Responsible to ensure quality assurance logs, material certifications, spreadsheets, and any other quality records are completed correctly, filed, and up-to-date.

f) Evaluate defective product. Ability to troubleshoot and root cause using 5 why/8D methodology. Conveys information pertaining to found nonconforming product to supplier quality engineer and/or production supervisor, as appropriate, so that corrective measure(s) may be taken.

g) Containment of non-conforming material (reject tags, quarantine, SAP inventory adjustments, and all related).

h) Maintaining hold area and control of material incoming/outgoing in area, including SAP interactions as required.

i) Support in PPAP documentation, to include: Initial sample layout, MSA, Gage R&R, and Process Capability Studies.

j) Understanding of unit systems and conversions 

k) Train others in measuring system tools.

l) Provides support to include but not limited to;

  1. Weld penetration testing, weld penetration testing for new equipment validation, ongoing monitoring and validation of production equipment, material hardness testing, destructive testing (cushion foot push out, etc.), product testing (AAR lifecycle, AAR Drop Test, etc.), elevation nut testing for perpendicularity.

m) Support RGR teardowns, evaluate and report

n) Provide support to Quality Control Team for absenteeism/vacation coverage

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: 

a) Ability to gain knowledge of products, market requirements, customer, and industry requirements.

b) Solid working knowledge and working experience in Microsoft Office including Excel and Outlook.

c) Proficient in shop math, including measurements, fractions, decimals, and basic geometry.

d) Knowledge of Control Plans

e) Ability to train, develop, and explain the scholarship of quality knowledge.

f) Knowledge of SPC

g) Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints with GD&T

h) Ability to develop and manage quality documents

i) Effective leadership skills with an excellent communication aptitude, both with the quality team members and other JOST staff, managers, and supervisors

j) Able to obtain ASQ certifications for CQI & CQA

k) Ability to gain knowledge of company quality and safety policies. This also includes compliance with quality, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

a) Work is performed in a manufacturing setting.  

b) While performing duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to; walk, stand, see, hear, use hands, reach, stoop, bend, twist, and occasionally will be required to lift or move objects which weigh a minimum of 1# pounds to a maximum 51# pounds with or without assistance.
