The LCCC Accelerate Advisor at Laramie County Community College (LCCC) is a full-time, benefited position focused on supporting high school students participating in dual and concurrent enrollment, with a primary responsibility to those in the LCCC Accelerate program. This position provides proactive academic and career advising, facilitates co-advising with K12 partners, and supports students as they navigate early college experiences and transition into postsecondary education. The role engages directly with students, families, school personnel, and campus departments to support onboarding, course planning, and long-term goal setting. Through individualized guidance and coordinated support, the LCCC Accelerate Advisor helps students make informed decisions and access to resources, relationships, and pathways needed for success during and after high school.Position Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: – this position is exempt and is not eligible for compensatory or overtime pay provisions of the FLSA. This listing of essential duties is not all-inclusive, but representative, other duties may be assigned).
Utilizing caseload management, the LCCC Accelerate Advisor will build and maintain relationships with high school students by ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment throughout their academic journey.
Individualized Success Planning and Support - Provide comprehensive guidance and support by advising, mentoring, and assisting high school students accepted to the LCCC Accelerate program, helping them navigate early college opportunities and successfully transition to post-secondary education.
- Serve as the primary advisor for a caseload of high school students enrolled in LCCC courses, focusing on those in the Accelerate program.
- Support students in developing individualized academic plans aligned with their career and college goals. • Provide guidance on course selection, academic pathways, and college readiness.
- Facilitate co-advising conversations with high school counselors, students, and families to ensure coordinated support.
- Monitor academic progress and engagement, initiating timely interventions and connecting students with support services as needed.
- Assist students and families with the LCCC admissions process, financial aid applications, and scholarship opportunities to reduce financial barriers.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure responsible handling of student records in compliance with institutional, state, and federal policies.
- Act as liaison between LCCC and school districts to support student onboarding, scheduling, and communication in the LCCC Accelerate program.
- Assist with recruitment of new Accelerate cohorts through direct outreach to students, families, and school personnel, with a focus on reaching underrepresented populations.
- Deliver workshops, presentations, and events that support student onboarding, academic planning, and transition readiness.
- Promote inclusive and accessible messaging about the benefits of early college and higher education pathways.
- Design and deliver workshops focused on career exploration, goal setting, and college preparedness.
- Assist in the coordination and continuous improvement of the Accelerate program and other early college initiatives.
- Track and document student participation, outcomes, and advising interactions to support program evaluation and reporting.
- Participate in institutional events and initiatives aligned with LCCC’s goals for student success, equity, and access.
- Contribute feedback and insights that inform the development and long-term sustainability of the Accelerate program.
- Stay current with best practices in dual enrollment, college transitions, and equity in higher education

- Sales and Marketing – Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.

- Computer Software – proficient in computer-based training software, Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Outlook, and other relevant software applications to effectively complete job tasks.

- Ability to attend commencement ceremonies and other events to support students that may occur on weekends or evenings.
- Ability to work flexible hours. This may include working over 40 hours a week during high volume times and less during others. Will include occasional weekends and evenings.
- There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situations
- While performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities
- There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitor
- An employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as well

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in student services, education, psychology, social sciences, marketing, or related field from an accredited college or university One-year experience in advising, coaching, recruiting, or mentoring in secondary or post-secondary educational environments (or similar experience). Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by low-income and first-generation students. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across diverse populations. Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage under the College’s insurance policy.
Master’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling, marketing or related field of study from an accredited college or university. • Two years’ experience in advising, coaching, recruiting, or mentoring in secondary or post-secondary educational environments (or similar experience). Experience with dual/concurrent enrollment programs or early college initiatives. Familiarity with college admissions, financial aid, and career exploration tools. • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
