Job Title: Workday Technical Lead
Location: UK/EMEA: Home Based
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Workday Technical Lead to play a key role in shaping, managing, and enhancing BSI’s Workday platform and its integrations with enterprise applications. Reporting to the Workday Platform Manager, you will lead the design, development, and optimisation of Workday solutions across HR, Finance, and Payroll.
This senior role will see you act as a trusted partner to both business stakeholders and external suppliers, ensuring service excellence, security, and compliance. You’ll also drive innovation and efficiency by introducing automation, self-service capabilities, and process improvements that deliver real business value.
With influence across multiple streams, you’ll be the technical expert and mentor, ensuring Workday remains a reliable, high-performing, and future-ready platform.
Responsibilities
Lead the design, configuration, and development of Workday solutions to meet evolving business needs.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Workday developers and consultants across multiple modules.
Oversee Workday integrations, ensuring accuracy, performance, and data security.
Partner with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions that align with organisational goals.
Maintain high-quality documentation, including technical specifications and test plans.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex Workday issues, driving root-cause resolution.
Ensure compliance with governance, security, and regulatory standards.
Collaborate with Project Managers and functional leads to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Continuously evaluate and implement process improvements and system enhancements.
Support the creation of a 12–36 month Workday roadmap to align with BSI’s technology strategy.
To Be Successful
Extensive Workday expertise – hands-on experience in HCM, Finance, or Payroll modules, including Workday Studio, EIB, Web Services, and integrations.
Technical leadership skills – ability to guide, mentor, and influence others, ensuring high-quality delivery across the team.
Problem-solving mindset – strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex issues and deliver practical solutions.
Stakeholder engagement – confident communicator who can influence and build trust at all levels, including senior leadership.
Continuous improvement focus – proactive in identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency, and business impact.
Commercial awareness – ensuring technical decisions support organisational strategy and priorities.
