Description

ABOUT THE YMCA:

Established locally in 1944, the YMCA of Southern Nevada is one of the region’s longest-serving and most-respected nonprofit organizations. We are committed to helping people of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and income levels – ensuring everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential with dignity and that no one is turned away due to the inability to pay. From childcare to senior programs; sports to education; fitness centers to chronic disease management; and swim lessons to feeding the hungry, the Y is truly for all in its cause of holistically strengthening the foundations of this community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for a 21st Century After School Site Coordinator to run our Power Scholars program at Parson Elementary. In this role you will oversee the daily operations of the grant-funded afterschool program, including managing staff, implementing curriculum, and ensuring grant requirements are met. This is a full-time in-person position located at Parson Elementary School (4100 Thom Blvd, Las Vegas, NV). The hours for this position are from 9:30am - 6pm. During the first half of the day you will provide support to the school and work on administrative responsibilities. From 2pm - 6pm you will oversee the facilitation of the afterschool program. Staff trainings may occasionally be held on the weekends.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

Research shows that young people from underserved and low-income families often start school underprepared and fall behind their peers as a result, creating an opportunity gap. Through focused programming and support, the Y is committed to closing this gap. The Power Scholars program uses evidence based curriculum and licensed teachers to support students’ educational readiness, engagement and outcomes, and emotional and physical development while also providing afterschool childcare at no cost to students or families.
