Internship Details:

  • Duration: May – August 2026
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on the academic year of the intern
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday dayshift hours
  • Location: On-site at our Monroeville, PA facility, collaborating directly with engineers and project teams
  • Interview Process: Includes a virtual screening, on-site interview, and facility tour. The process will begin in February, with final selections made by the end of March
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required for site visits or project support

Key Responsibilities for an Automation Intern:

  • Assist automation engineers in designing, programming, testing, and troubleshooting automation systems
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and specifications for automation projects
  • Participate in the installation and commissioning of automation equipment and systems at client sites
  • Research emerging automation technologies and industry trends to inform project development
  • Create documentation, including user manuals and technical reports, to support automation projects
  • Provide technical support and assistance to clients during the implementation and operation of automation systems
  • Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance your knowledge and skills in automation technologies

 

 

Qualifications for an Automation Intern:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, EMET, or a related technical field
  • Strong academic background with coursework in automation, control systems, robotics, or similar disciplines
  • Familiarity with automation software and tools, such as PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs)
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and communication skills with the ability to work well in a team
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Prior internship or co-op experience is a plus

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and navigate tight spaces
  • Ability to crouch, crawl, and work on the ground as needed
  • Lift up to 25-50 pounds occasionally
  • Use of hands for handling tools and small components
