JOB SUMMARY
The Process Engineer is responsible for the process design of equipment systems across both projects and bid proposals. This includes developing compliant and efficient designs, delivering outputs on time and to quality standards, and providing technical support throughout the lifecycle. The role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safety & Environment
- Ensure plant designs are safe and environmentally responsible.
- Participate in design reviews and risk assessments.
- Comply with relevant engineering legislation (e.g., EU Machinery Directive, PED).
- Maintain safe conduct, especially on customer/supplier sites.
- Process and mechanical Design
- Develop process solutions including:
- Process flowsheets, P&ID diagrams
- Equipment specifications and lists
- Process descriptions and KPIs
- Layouts, 2D/3D piping diagrams
- Perform design calculations (e.g., pipe sizing, pump sizing).
- Adhere to SPX FLOW procedures and design standards.
- Deliver tasks on schedule, within budget, and to required quality.
- Design Ownership
- Ensure designs meet:
- Legal and regulatory requirements
- Customer specifications
- SPX FLOW standards and best practices
- Maintain consistency and completeness in design documentation.
- Ensure coherent integration of subsystems and clear external interfaces.
- Consider economic factors to support budget adherence.
- Communication & Teamwork
- Engage in technical discussions with customers and suppliers.
- Attend project meetings (kick-offs, progress reviews, design reviews).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
- Supply Chain (specifications, quotes, requisitions)
- Mechanical, automation, and electrical design
- Installation & Commissioning (design intent, critical requirements, issue resolution)
- Aftermarket (handover of design information)
- Documentation
- Prepare operating instructions and O&M manuals.
- Maintain structured and accessible design documentation.
- Compile spares lists and technical files per relevant legislation.
- Sales Support & Proposals
- Provide technical support in pre-contract meetings.
- Conduct feasibility studies and site surveys.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong mechanical design knowledge for process equipment (spray dryers, evaporators, tanks).
- Material selection expertise (SS304/316L, Duplex), welding, insulation, CIP/SIP integration.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in cross-functional, global teams.
- High ethical standards and performance orientation.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Food or Dairy Engineering.
- 5+ year experience in hygienic industries (dairy, food, beverage, pharma).
- Knowledge of hygienic design and CIP systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD and SAP experience beneficial.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
