Job Summary
The Lead Superintendent is responsible to lead one or more project construction teams, directing and mentoring field on-site staff and for the overall management of project directions, planning, completion and financial outcome.
Responsibilities
- Manage development, updates, and maintenance of project schedules, including master, 60-day, and two-week look-ahead schedules for assigned trades.
- Implement and maintain corporate safety programs, site safety, and logistics plans daily.
- Monitor material delivery dates and inform the project superintendent for scheduling.
- Prepare, attend, and document weekly foreman and superintendent meetings; manage weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task safety meetings.
- Produce timely daily construction reports and ensure risk controls are maintained.
- Attend weekly project team meetings to update fieldwork status and communicate issues requiring action.
- Maintain document control to ensure compliance with current design documentation and approved shop drawings.
- Communicate design-related issues to the project manager for timely RFI issuance.
- Assist in preparing monthly client status reports and ensure sufficient job progress photos are taken.
- Secure, post, and renew all necessary permits before work begins.
- Collaborate with project manager in preconstruction on constructability, scope, scheduling, and buy-out.
- Research and address owner, landlord, and regulatory requirements to avoid delays and ensure client satisfaction.
- Develop thorough understanding of project strategy, financial goals, scheduling, logistics, phasing, milestones, and inspections.
- Oversee daily field operations to ensure safety, progress, quality control, and cleanliness.
- Partner with project manager to keep schedules accurate and aligned with project cost and timelines.
- Foster positive subcontractor relations and maintain open communication regarding work changes and conditions.
- Manage punch list process to ensure timely completion.
- Participate actively in company-wide training and development initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of ground-up construction experience, including experience with concrete high-rise and superstructure construction.
- Proven ability to manage full project life cycle from foundation through TCO.
- Knowledge of construction disciplines, union agreements, cost control, scheduling, safety regulations, engineering drawings, and documentation.
- Understanding of construction contracts, retention, and release processes.
- Skilled in reviewing shop drawing submittals and interpreting building plans and specifications.
- Strong site safety knowledge with ability to identify and resolve safety issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, adaptable for senior leadership.
- Strong leadership, time management, organizational skills, with attention to detail, dependability, and discretion.
- Certified in 10-Hour and 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety and Health.
- Certified 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User.
Computer Systems
- Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), and Procore.
