We are looking for a Commercial Manager to join our team. The Commercial Manager is responsible for managing commercial quotations and technical scopes for shop repairs from request for quote (RFQ) through project handoff. This position builds accurate bottom-up estimates, develops clear scopes of work and travelers, evaluates and levels vendor proposals, and ensures alignment with customer specifications and MEPCO standards. The Commercial Manager shall manage project risk and margin while promoting consistency and quality across proposals and work packages.

ORGANIZATIONAL - Leadership & Organization:
● Organize and prioritize NDT work to align with production and shipping schedules
● Maintain accurate and thorough NDT records, including RMS and third-party documentation ensuring traceability and compliance
● Exceptional attention to details.

INTERPERSONAL - Experience Required:

● Knowledge and expererience with rotating equipment
PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
● Manage commercial aspects of rotating equipment projects involving various pump types, including vertical turbine, split case, BB3, BB5 API, and OH1/OH2 API models.
● Oversee compressor-related scopes, including Sundyne, oil-flooded screw, liquid ring, and centrifugal compressors, as well as the associated gearboxes.
● Develop detailed, itemized cost estimates, including labor (by discipline), materials, third-party services, tooling, freight, contingency, and targeted margin with risk-based adjustments.
● Apply working knowledge of industry standards including API 610, API 617, API 682, ISO balance grades, mechanical fits/ clearances, and standard NDT methods.
● Interpret and analyze engineering drawings to support reverse engineering efforts, including specifying tolerances, materials, coatings, and repair procedures.
● Evaluate and align supplier quotations for machining, coatings, casting/forging, seal repair, and testing services, with consideration for cost and lead time synchronization.
● Manage scope changes effectively by capturing, pricing, and obtaining approvals for modifications prior to execution, ensuring proper documentation and stakeholder alignment.
● Serve as a key technical and commercial liaison, communicating clearly with internal teams regarding scope clarifications, contractual terms, and scheduling expectations.
● Maintain disciplined documentation practices, including cost breakdowns, quote revisions, scope inclusions/exclusions, and commercial clarifications.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
● Seven or more years in rotating equipment repair estimating or application engineering
REQUIRED EDUCATION
● High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution
● Post-secondary mechanical training or trade certification preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
● The position may be based in RMS’s Houston, TX facility..
● This is a full-time position, with a minimum expectation of 40 hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends, may be required based on project needs.
● This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background check.
● Able to pass a pre=employment drug and alcohol test and background check
● Ability to act professionally under stressful situations.
● Able to understand, read, write and speak English.
● Ability to lift 30 pounds
● Authorized to work in the United States
● RMS Inc. may have government contracts that impose specific requirements on employees working on those projects. If an employee does not meet these requirements, they may be reassigned to a different location or be ineligible to work on certain assignments.
