Position Duties
Under general supervision, develops, implements, and plans a marketing strategy. Creates marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and posters for distribution.
- Develop and implement marketing plan for North Central Health District
- Develop annual marketing plan in support of county strategic goals and seasonal priorities (i.e., flu shots, back-to-school, breast cancer prevention).
- Target marketing, advertising, and outreach to specific demographic groups (teens, elderly, mothers, etc.).
- Coordinate with district programs to ensure consistency in messaging, even when individual program or county needs are addressed.
- Collaborate with various members of the NCHD team, including health education, clinical services, environmental health, and others, to prioritize areas of promotion.
- Create marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, posters, etc., for both physical and digital advertising.
- Manage ongoing projects from planning and design through delivery.
- Utilize NCHD social media to promote events, services, and general health information.
- Work with the Public Information Officer to create and coordinate on-brand messaging that speaks to local audiences.
- Work with county health department staff and program managers to identify and utilize marketing/advertising opportunities.
- Develop material in compliance with North Central Health District branding guidelines to maintain brand identity.
- Work with local media salespeople and ad agencies to identify and utilize advertising opportunities.
- Assist NCHD administration in planning and analyzing the marketing/advertising budget (i.e. opportunity cost, potential return on investment, etc.)
- Stay updated on marketing and advertising trends, media platforms, audience media usage, and analytics.
- Develop relationships with external marketing partners and vendors
- Coordinate communication and maintain relationships with external marketing/advertising partners and vendors in collaboration with the Public Information Officer.
- Serve as NCHD media buyer using program funding.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external customers, partners, and other contacts.
Community Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with community members and organizations that share and support mutual goals to improve the health and well-being of the community.
- Represent NCHD at various events and meetings.
- Develop a strategic plan for promoting NCHD programs, services, and partnerships in the district.
- Utilize community assessment information and other data to evaluate the needs of the communities served.
- Work with Health Educators and other NCHD staff to plan and implement community outreach programs, organize and promote events, and coordinate partner participation.
Emergency Response
- Assist the Public Information Officer during Public Health Emergency responses.
- Attend trainings regarding emergency response, risk communication, and more.
- Serve as backup Public Information Officer.

- Must have knowledge of marketing and public relations

- Experience with various platforms and software for marketing, advertising, graphic design, and social media, including:
- Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
- Creative design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
- Planning, managing, and maintaining a budget
- Social media management, including paid promotions
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in communication, English, or public relations from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience;
or
One (1) year of experience required at the lower level Marketing Spec 1 (GSP070) or position equivalent.
