WSB is looking for an energetic, detail-oriented Public Engagement Intern. This role is ideal for someone who is customer-service oriented and has a passion for public engagement and strategic communications.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Assist staff with planning and coordination of client and project communications, outreach, and public engagement activities.
  • Coordinate, organize, and facilitate formal and informal meetings, workshops, open houses, and other community events.
  • Coordinate marketing materials, and gather data/research as needed.
  • Write and help design social media copy and digital campaigns.
  • Assist with message and multi-media copy development including web copy, media advisories, newsletters, and other project related communication.
  • Perform daily media monitoring, tracking, and reporting.

 

What You Will Bring: 

  • Strong written and verbal communications, familiarity with AP style writing.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with people, especially those with a different background, experience, and culture.
  • A customer-service-oriented, a can-do attitude, attentive to deadlines and team-first philosophy.
  • Ability to collaborate on the implementation of community advocacy, community relations, marketing, event planning, and public engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of engagement and communications strategies with sensitivity to cultural diversity.
  • Able to effectively resolve conflict situations.
  • Able to think strategically, analyze issues, and make sound decisions based on community and cultural standards.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or in-pursuit, with degree in communications, public affairs, political science, marketing, communications or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Multi-lingual is preferred.
  • Writing sample required with application.
