Do you love being the go-to person who keeps things running smoothly? As a Benefits Assistant, you’ll support compliance, maintain accurate records, and ensure employees feel supported. You’ll help new hires get settled, answer HR questions, keep systems accurate, and back up the HR Business Partner and Recruiting Team with onboarding, status changes, terminations, and more. This role is part detective (compliance), part organizer (records and systems), and part teammate (supporting employees and HR).

Position Summary

The Benefits Assistant supports the HR team by ensuring compliance with employment laws, maintaining accurate employee records, and assisting with benefits, onboarding, and HR operations. This role plays a key part in delivering world-class customer service to employees, maintaining data integrity in HR systems, and supporting companywide HR initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide customer service to employees and managers on HR and benefits inquiries.
  • Assist with compliance by tracking employment laws and state variances.
  • Support recruiting with scheduling, new hire packets, and onboarding.
  • Help facilitate New Hire Orientation and ensure onboarding requirements are completed on time.
  • Share onboarding updates with hiring managers.
  • Monitor HR, Recruiting, and Fax inboxes; respond or route inquiries.
  • Verify terminations in UKG have proper documentation and approvals.
  • Process wage and employment verifications.
  • Send monthly employee anniversary and birthday lists.
  • Maintain HRIS (UKG) accuracy and upload employee documents.
  • Partner with HRBP on quarterly service awards.
  • Follow information security policies; report risks as needed.
  • Perform other HR duties as assigned.

     

    Education & Experience:

    • Previous HR Assistant or HR internship experience preferred, but not required.

    • Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly learn HRIS and related systems; UKG experience preferred.

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

    • Strong research skills, analytical mindset, and attention to detail.

    • Highly organized, process-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.

     

    Work Environment / Physical Requirements:

    • Office-based role with extended periods of sitting, bending, and stooping.

    • Frequent use of office equipment such as computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone.

    • Occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.

     

    Additional Notes:

    • Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm CST (onsite in the Sugar Land office). After your first 90 days, you’ll be eligible for a hybrid schedule, allowing you to work from home two days per week. Please note that Mondays are mandatory in-office days.
    • Compensation: $18/hr.
