Akira Technologies is seeking a highly skilled FOIA Analyst to support records management and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for a federal client. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with FOIA and related regulations while providing efficient, accurate, and timely responses to information requests. The ideal candidate has experience analyzing, reviewing, and processing sensitive records for release, possesses excellent communication skills, and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
This is an onsite roles supporting locations in Washington, DC, Reston, VA, Herndon, VA, and Lakewood, CO. Public Trust or higher security clearance is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process records for release under FOIA, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.
- Conduct detailed analysis of sensitive or classified records to identify exempt or releasable content.
- Manage and track FOIA requests in electronic processing systems and databases, maintaining accurate documentation and audit-ready records.
- Provide research, redaction, and administrative support for FOIA casework.
- Collaborate with internal teams, requesters, and external stakeholders to clarify requests and ensure timely responses.
- Prepare reports, correspondence, and supporting documentation for FOIA-related activities.
- Assist in implementing process improvements and best practices in FOIA processing workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in analytical and administrative support, including advanced expertise in processing records for release under FOIA.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), Adobe Acrobat, and electronic FOIA processing or e-discovery tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively assist, interpret, track, and document casework.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working independently while meeting tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with federal agencies and understanding FOIA regulations.
- Familiarity with sensitive information handling and classified materials.
- Knowledge of federal records management policies and procedures.
Salary Range: $60,000 to $85,000
