SUMMARY STATEMENT & PURPOSE: This position is responsible for scheduling patients for urgent/emergent appointments and coordinating based on practice standards and triage protocols. The ability to manage a high volume of telephone calls and related tasks is essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
- Coordinates and schedules urgent patient care by telephone and for walk-in patients by gathering information and following clinic protocols, as well as scripted assessment questions.
- Reviews, processes, contacts and schedules urgent patient referral appointments per SEC policies, procedures and protocols. Reschedules appointments appropriately as needed.
- Communicates professionally with internal and external parties including but not limited to patients, referring physicians and physician offices, and other Spokane Eye Clinic employees, while utilizing appropriate pathways such as email, EHR tasking, faxing, telephone calls and in-person, as needed.
- Organizes and establishes priorities to perform assigned work and ensures all tasks are completed timely according to clinic standards. Meets all benchmarks for metrics to meet volume requirements.
- Demonstrates a complete understanding of EHR/EPM and completes documentation accurately and thoroughly per established protocols.
- Knowledgeable regarding insurance plans and referral requirements, verification, and documentation.
- Collaborates with and supports team members as needed. Contributes to a positive team environment.
- Participates in professional, skill and business-related continuing education, as required.
- Provides backup support for the referral team.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- One (1) year of medical office experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and ability to learn other software programs as needed.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with EHR/NextGen programs
- College degree
