Liquid Environmental is seeking a LEAD PLANT OPERATOR for our Phoenix Wastewater Plant
Pay: Starting at $26/hr
Schedule: Monday through Friday
5am to 2pm shift with occasional OT
*Some Saturdays required
Location: 5159 W Van Buren St, Phoenix
SUMMARY:
The Lead Plant Operator is responsible for supervising and training plant operators, ensuring safe and compliant plant operations, and overseeing daily activities at the site. This role involves managing the treatment of wastewater, monitoring site conditions, maintaining regulatory compliance, and facilitating customer service. Additionally, the Lead collaborates with other departments, compiles reports, manages administrative tasks, and ensures that all employees adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The position also requires support with human resources tasks, budgeting, and continuous improvement initiatives for plant productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate the site safely and in compliance with local, state and federal regulations at all times.
- Recommends scheduling of work to ensure the site meets the needs of the plant and the customers.
- Conducts and takes part in the weekly safety meetings.
- Helps manage the process and space for incoming wastewater and treatment of material using the SOP as the approved procedure.
- Oversees the site discharge for compliance with all procedures or regulations.
- Ensures that incoming profiles, manifests, bills of lading, as well as vendor and customer interaction are meeting company requirements.
- Facilitates good customer service at all levels.
- Compiles and analyses various reports for decision making, management reporting and compliance.
- Aids plant leadership with managing the administrative staff to ensure proper billing, customer service and accurate accounting for receivables, using the accepted practices established by the Company.
- Coordinates with other company departments.
- Monitors and reports site conditions to the Plant Manager and Division Manager.
- Completes all documents and reports as required.
- Monitors the site’s expense budget, within budgetary guidelines to contribute to cost-effective operation of the Company.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
- Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
- Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, vendors and others in a courteous and professional manner.
- Responsible for all productivity measures and achieving continuous measureable improvement with efficiencies in plant.
- Assist plant manager with basic H.R. functions, including: interviewing and corrective action follow up.
- Approves and manages over time.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: * Wastewater experience or related experience.
- Experience managing employees.
- Microsoft Office Suite of products including Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Experience with Access, PowerPoint a plus.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: * Waste Operator Level 1 License/Certification (Highly Preferred).
- High School diploma or equivalent (Required).
- One (1) year of previous wastewater experience (Required).
- Flexible work schedule: 45-50 hours per week. (Required).
- Must be willing to work in environments with strong orders (Required).
- Must be willing to work in hot, cold, and wet conditions (Required).
WORK ENVIRONMENT: * Periods of working in hot or cold weather.
- General office conditions.
- Ability to work with strong odors.
- Some light lifting and bending.
