About the Clinic Nurse:

The Clinic Nurse of Masonic Home of Virginia coordinates all Resident in-house healthcare appointments, ensures that Residents are scheduled in a timely manner, schedules and staffs medical clinics, accompanies attending physicians on rounds, and evaluates resident responses to treatment plan changes. Other duties as assigned. This position is Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week, and serves one weekend per month as on-call designee.

Responsibilities of the Clinic Nurse:

  • Receives and communicates all Resident healthcare concerns/symptoms and communicates with appropriate physicians/specialty providers and members of the multidisciplinary team as indicated.
  • Receives and processes all clinic physician orders to pharmacy, lab, and transportation as indicated on the order. Documents orders and RP notification in the resident’s electronic medical records, maintaining physician documentation/consultation in the same records.
  • Coordinates all in-house Resident healthcare appointment needs and ensures that appointments are scheduled in a timely manner. Works with insurance to obtain prior authorization for equipment, medications, or supplies.
  • Conducts required pre-employment and annual tuberculosis screenings, Workers’ Comp and random drug/alcohol screenings, and manages annual flu vaccine program for residents and employees. 
  • Serves as back-up CPR Instructor

 

Qualifications of the Clinic Nurse:

  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions; CPR certified
  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse 
  • Previous experience required in healthcare with a general knowledge of nursing care in a long-term care or continuing care retirement community setting serving the elderly; physician office and Microsoft Office experience preferred.     
  • CPR Trainer Certification preferred or willing to become CPR Trainer Certified
