Purpose and Position Summary:

 

This Temporary Analyst for Mandatory Continued Legal Education (MCLE) reviews and analyzes applications submitted for accreditation to receive MCLE credit; reviews and analyzes certifications of compliance from members ensuring that the members have met all MCLE compliance requirements for the reporting period; communicates with and respond to inquiries from members and CLE sponsors.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Reviews, analyzes, and processes applications for accreditation of CLE activities: 

  • Processes and analyzes accreditation applications to correctly determine compliance with APR 11. Using the standards listed in APR 11 analysts independently approve, deny, or mark the application incomplete. Each analyst is expected to be familiar with, apply, and reference Admission and Practice Rule (APR) 11. Analysts will review the activity applications and course materials in order to appropriately accredit each application for MCLE credit under the rule.

Reviews, analyzes and processes MCLE Certifications of Compliance:

  • Processes and analyzes MCLE Certifications of Compliance including Comity Certificates to correctly determine member compliance with APR 11.
  • Requests additional information as necessary and tracks missing or requested information, including incomplete activities, duplicate activities, incomplete certifications, individualized written and telephonic communications where appropriate. 
  • Assists MCLE manager with the MCLE non-compliance and suspension process.

Communicates with licensed Lawyers, LLLTs, and LPOs, CLE sponsors and others: 

  • Responds to communications regarding all MCLE matters in a clear, timely, and professional manner.  
  • Communicates to members in a professional manner regarding compliance issues and conveys what is needed for compliance.    
  • Contacts non-compliant members who have received a pre-suspension notice informing them of the consequences of their failure to take timely action necessary to become compliant and updates records. 
  • Explains the pre-suspension process to members and offers MCLE undue hardship petition as needed when appropriate. 

Performs additional duties as assigned

 

Education Required:

  • Associate's degree, or completed and relevant Certification Program

 

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years progressively responsible administrative support and coordination experience

 

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience in a professional work environment, centered around DEI, ethics, compliance, and confidentiality

 

Competencies (Skills/Abilities) Required:

  • Intermediate to Advanced experience using Microsoft Office and MS 365 platforms (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, etc.) within Windows, with a strong technical aptitude to quickly learn others, including WSBA’s existing systems.
  • Practice and compliance on policies and principles centered around ethics, and confidentiality
  • Enthusiastic about helping to foster a culture of inclusion, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Professional and respectful conduct with fellow staff, supervisors, executive leadership, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills and good judgment 
  • Correctly interpret and apply all compliance rules and regulations governing assigned tasks
  • Computer literate and able to quickly learn to use new software
  • Detail oriented, and highly organized.
  • Excellent time management skills, including able to efficiently and effectively handle and process high volumes of phone calls, e-mail, and incoming work to process
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills – empathetic, helpful, and efficient


Working Conditions:

  • This position is one that may be able to work primarily remote within the State of Washington. However, WSBA Staff must also be flexible to also work at the Seattle Office as requested to perform some of the required job duties. * New employee onboarding is conducted onsite in our Seattle, WA office. 
  • For remote work, must have an adequate home/work environment and internet access, for performing work of a highly sensitive and confidential nature. 
  • The essential functions of the job that must be performed, with or without a reasonable accommodation: This position must be able to regularly work five days per week in an office type environment (remote or in office), possess the ability to primarily sit/stand and use a computer, and lift/push/pull items weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to operate a computer keyboard, and other standard office equipment (e.g., printer/scanner/fax/telephone). This position must be able to read, write, and speak with others in English.
