The Vice President of Trade Marketing is responsible for leading the overall trade marketing strategy, brand visibility, and trade education functions within the Marketing department and across all wholesale sales channels. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer (CGO), this individual will work closely with the CGO, SVPs of Brand Management, and Sales Leadership to ensure cohesive, brand-aligned strategies at retail, in the on-premise, and through digital platforms. This role leads a high-performing team focused on translating brand strategy and initiatives into commercial optimization at the point of purchase both on and off-premise. They will manage a significant budget in an effort to drive growth at retail and maximizing partnerships/sponsorships while measuring ROI to deploy the budget most effectively. Trade marketing initiatives will have established KPIs to drive on and off-premise sales, increase brand presence, and strengthen distributor and retail partnerships.
What we will ask you to do:
- Partner closely with the Chief Growth Officer (CGO) to align trade marketing strategies with overall commercial growth objectives and establishes agreed upon KPIs to meet growth objectives.
- Deliver annual strategic plan for distributor funds in coordination with Sales and Marketing Leadership that optimize funds to drive revenue; reports on established KPIs monthly.
- Work in collaboration with the SVPs of Marketing to ensure seamless execution of brand-building initiatives at the trade and retail level that have associated metrics driving growth by brand.
- Strategize, develop, and deliver the new product development timeline and implementation in all wholesale channels in coordination with Brand Marketing.
- Develop overall strategy for in-market trade activation across TDP’s key partnership and sponsorships.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive trade marketing strategy that enhances brand presence and accelerates sales across all key channels (on-premise, off-premise, DTC).
- Lead the creation of customer- and channel-specific marketing programs tailored to national and regional retail chains, independent accounts, and distributor networks.
- Serve as a strategic partner to Sales Leadership, ensuring that trade marketing initiatives align with key account and distributor strategies.
- Strengthen relationships with distributors and retail partners, ensuring effective execution of promotional programs, visibility campaigns, and pricing strategies.
- Oversee the development and execution of marketing assets, including POS materials, sales enablement tools, and customer engagement programs.
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Trade Marketing team.
What you will need:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 10-15 years marketing experience in the wine industry.
- Minimum 10 years marketing management and strategic planning experience.
- Experience with luxury brand products preferred.
- Strong leadership and consensus building skills.
- Strong knowledge of wine industry and three tier system.
- Proven track record in developing and administering marketing programs.
- Proven analytical ability.
- Must be a self-starter and highly organized.
- Polished presentation, interpersonal, and facilitation skills.
- Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Office and windows-based computer applications.
- Team player with enthusiastic outlook and creativity.
- Ability to travel 20% of the time as needed.
- Valid Driver's License and insurable MVR.
