Holland Public Schools is located in Holland, Michigan. The district has four elementary schools, one middle school and one high school and has an enrollment of approximately 3000 students. We offer a dual language immersion program in Spanish in grades K-8. Title: Instructional Assistant - HVRT Lab Instructor Location: Holland High School Terms: School-Year: Part-Time (29 hours/ week) Hours: TBD (daily schedule) Compensation: $17.31 - $20.90/ hour (IA - Level 2)

OVERVIEW: Holland Virtual Tech (HVRT) serves students who are deficient in academic credits for graduation. As an intervention, HVRT offers targeted classwork to help students make up missing credit. HVRT also ensures that students develop strategies for reading and math through one on one tutoring/assistance, scaffolding of ideas/concepts, and pretesting of subjects to identify areas of strength and areas of need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
Must meet educational requirements of either 60 college credits or successful completion of State-approved tests.
Preferred candidates who are familiar with an educational setting and working with students.
Ability to navigate the Odysseyware credit recovery platform or the ability to quickly learn new systems to support high school learners.
Ability to break down or re-explain concepts in core classes of study on a 1:1 or small group basis. (English, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science)
Works with the Title teacher to implement targeted interventions for each student based on individual learning needs.
Helps manage day-to-day tasks, routines, and classroom management to maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
Ability to follow up with communication to families and make personal connections with students to make sure students are making progress and understanding course content.
Knowledge of working with ML learners and Students with disabilities
Ability to work well as a team to assist students in credit recovery and keep them on track to graduate.
Ability to demonstrate mature judgment and moral and ethical behavior.
Ability to project a positive outlook, manner, and appearance.
Must meet the requirements of School Safety Legislation – 2005 PA 129-131 and 138 (Complete FBI fingerprints required.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is regularly required to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment, read printed materials and a computer screen, and communicate in person or over the telephone.
