Job Title: Research and Development Technician

Department: Research & Development

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

Reports To: VP of Research & Development

Job Summary:

We are seeking a versatile individual to serve as our Research and Development Technician with experience in fundamental R&D practices to support publication research, product development and product testing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Including but not limited to the following, other duties may be applied:

  • Collaborates with supervisor and research staff to ensure a thorough understanding of testing objectives and coordinates on the testing plan to support objectives.
  • Creates, executes, or assists on all testing efforts to establish or determine product quality and product performance. Maintains attentiveness for testing abnormalities, trends, and external influences.
  • Records and communicates all test data and testing observations with a high degree of accuracy to project technical leads and management as required.
  • Maintains an accurate laboratory notebook with attention to detail that complies with test methods, Standard Operating Procedures, and company policy.
  • Partners with staff on project needs, (e.g. quoting, maintains sample traceability, etc.)
  • Able to acquire, read and interpret scientific journal articles relevant to proposed or current projects.
  • Completes projects to finalization in a timely manner.
  • Good physical dexterity to manipulate test samples and testing equipment.
  • ELISA testing, Multiplexing, Protein Assays, Flow cytometry (training provided).
  • Support ensuring equipment is well maintained (e.g., calibration, scheduling maintenance, etc.), the lab (and lab practices) is safe, ensures the lab is compliant with applicable SOP’s and Policy’s and is clean/organized.
  • Make solutions and reagents as required.
  • Perform laboratory cleaning duties as required or according to company policy.
  • Assist in the development of white papers/journal articles to support product performance.
  • Capable of working with university collaborations in a professional manner.
  • Able to adhere to specific timelines and actions required for completion of assays and protocols.
  • Capable of working on a team with a willingness to help or support other efforts.
  • Management of R&D supplies, including inventory, acquisition, and maintenance. 
  • Adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures, while maintaining cGMP and cGDP in accordance with FDA and AATB regulations (training provided)
  • All additional duties as directed.


Requirements

Qualifications – Education and Experience Required:

Education: College and/or technical degree required.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience.

Laboratory testing experience desired.

Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMS, and PowerPoint)

Comfortable performing basic mathematical skills (i.e. adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, etc.)

Detail-oriented. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Capable of working with internal/external resources.
  • Ability to maintain organization of project tasks and advance efforts on multiple projects in parallel.
  • Have a professional, collaborative, and supportive attitude focused on producing high quality work and jumping in to help on all efforts.
  • Desire to continuously improve their capabilities and their understanding / knowledge of our products and applicable test methodologies.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work and manage time efficiently to meet company goals.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows Office applications including MS Outlook (email), MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams.

Physical Demands: 

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting for long periods of time. 
  • Reading a computer monitor. 
  • Operating office equipment including computer, copy machine, scanner, printer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. 

Additional Information:

Work Environment: Full-time position, Company HQ and off-site laboratory. 

Schedule: Standard business hours; occasional extended hours may be required to meet deadlines.
