Position Overview
The Employee Benefits Producer is responsible for generating new business opportunities and expanding existing client relationships by providing comprehensive employee benefits solutions. This role requires a strong ability to identify client needs, present tailored benefit plan options, and build long-term relationships that drive client satisfaction and revenue growth. The Producer serves as a trusted advisor to business clients, leveraging deep knowledge of employee benefit products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and executes strategies to generate new employee benefits business, including prospecting, networking, and referrals.
- Conducts needs assessments with business owners, HR leaders, and executives to understand benefit objectives and challenges.
- Presents and explains benefit plan options, coverage details, and cost structures in a clear and consultative manner.
- Partners with carriers, underwriters, and internal account management teams to prepare proposals and negotiate competitive plan designs.
- Manages the entire sales process from initial contact to closing, ensuring a seamless client experience.
- Maintains and grows a book of business through regular communication, proactive service, and relationship management.
- Stays up to date on industry trends, compliance requirements, and new product offerings.
- Collaborates with internal service teams to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing client support.
- Meets or exceeds annual production and revenue goals.
Education & Qualifications
- A B.S. or B.A. degree in business, insurance, or a related field strongly preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in employee benefit sales, insurance brokerage, or a related positions normally required.
- Current Insurance License for assigned state required.
- Knowledge of all lines of insurance with an emphasis on employee benefit plans.
- Thorough knowledge of agency operations, including claims handling, procedures, carrier rating, agency management systems and applicable insurance laws/codes.
- Familiarity with risk management and risk management techniques.
- Experience using Applied Epic or similar customer relationship management system strongly preferred.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills; highly motivated self-starter with strong business development abilities; ability to build and maintain trusted client and carrier relationships; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all insurance products; proficient PC skills including Microsoft Office products and industry specific related programs; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects, handle or feel, and lift items weighing 40 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills; valid driver’s license is required.
