We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist to act as Assistant Project Manager for our growing environmental consulting practice in our NYC office. The successful candidate will lead projects and guide junior staff, while performing office and field work, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments/Investigations and preparation of Remedial Action Workplans in the NYC metropolitan area. The ideal candidate for this position is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who is ready to take on project management and staff training. This role will have increasing responsibility and is on a project management track. Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical.
Salary range starts at $90,000.

What you'll do
Participate in all aspects of site investigation and remediation, from the proposal stage, through preparation of workplans, conducting or overseeing others conducting field work, and writing summary reports, to final remedial documents
Manage site investigations to determine the nature and extent of contaminated soil, soil vapor, sediment, groundwater and other media on a variety of sites, including public (parks, schools/universities, transit-related), residential, industrial, commercial, and private
Oversee field work, include oversight of subcontractors, including drillers and other subcontractors, during soil boring advancement, monitoring well installation, excavation activities, and remedial construction activities; and sampling various media including soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor and air
Perform Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527, supervise junior staff, and perform peer reviews of same.
Prepare summary reports including reviewing laboratory analytical data; interpreting and tabulating data and preparing tables; soil boring logs; figures; and text
Provide management and mentoring of junior staff to deliver projects while maintaining project budgets, schedules and deadlines
Attend and lead project team meetings with staff, clients, and regulators
Minimum Requirements
BS in Environmental Engineering, or related environmental science or geology degree
Professional engineering license preferred
6-8 years of environmental consulting experience
Experience performing Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations, including soil, sediment, soil vapor, air and groundwater sampling
Working knowledge of NYSDEC Rules, Regulations and Guidance documents including DER-10, Part 360, and Part 375 Regulations
Working knowledge of the environmental investigation implications with the CEQR process (Chapter 12) preferred
Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, and research and documentation
OSHA 40-Hour Training and 8-hour refreshers; OSHA 10 and 30-Hour construction training preferred
Must possess a valid driver’s license, with a clean driving record, and be willing to travel and conduct field work in all boroughs of NYC, Westchester, and Long Island
Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently
Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills
Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
GIS competency preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
Must be able to wear a respirator
Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to DOT regulated random drug testing
