Position Overview:
The CAD Drafter at Pref-Tech will be responsible for preparing shop and as-built drawing packages for electronic security and surveillance projects that include floorplan device layouts, wall-field elevations, and detail diagrams (i.e., access-controlled doors, surveillance cameras, electronics enclosures, and cabinet enclosures), as well as wiring termination diagrams. Work requires use of conventional drafting techniques and a working knowledge of the terms and procedures of a security integration company.
Work Hours:
Our office hours are from Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is no set schedule for field personnel as work schedules vary depending on client needs.

A CAD Drafter may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities below, but not limited to:
- Prepare and revise detail and design drawings for electronic security and surveillance projects under the direction of other CAD Designer, Project Managers and Sales/Estimation team. (Drawings typically include installation details of electronic equipment, wiring interconnect diagrams, device locations, and layout of equipment enclosures)
- Prepare drawings for submittal to our Project teams and customers that include printing, plotting, and binding as needed.
- Work from architectural specification drawings created by engineers and architects, as well as rough drawings and mark-ups from Project teams.
- Design plans using AutoCAD LT computer-aided design and drafting (CAD) software.
- Coordinate with manufacturers to acquire device templates and to create device detail drawing templates.
- Must be detail-oriented and possess exceptional time-management skills.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate degree with drafting as primary objective with certificate of completion.
- At least 2 years of AutoCAD experience.
- Experience in the following industries is preferred: electronic security, construction, or building automation.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office 365 software tools.
- Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
