BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Senior Compliance Consultant serves as a compliance resource for clients and colleagues in Marsh McLennan Agency East Region’s Retirement Services Division, effectively communicating complex compliance requirements to clients, stakeholders, and service team members.  The Senior Compliance Consultant is responsible for conducting compliance testing for client retirement plans and providing expert guidance on corrective actions.  This role assists with Form 5500 filings, supports audits, and ensures plan documents meet regulatory standards.  The Senior Compliance Consultant demonstrates and actively maintains strong working knowledge of current industry regulations and relevant legislative updates.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Conduct and review annual ADP/ACP testing, top-heavy testing, and cross-testing for client retirement plans (401(k), 403b, and 457)
  • Review and ensure accuracy of Form 5500 filings and associated schedules
  • Provide expert guidance to clients on corrective actions for failed compliance tests
  • Assist clients in understanding and fulfilling their fiduciary responsibilities related to retirement plan compliance
  • Stay informed about regulatory updates and industry trends impacting retirement plan compliance
  • Review plan documents, amendments, and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs) to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
  • Support plan audits and reviews to identify and resolve compliance issues proactively.
  • Communicate complex compliance requirements clearly and effectively with clients, plan sponsors, and other stakeholders
  • Provide training and internal support on compliance processes, best practices, and regulatory changes

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Juris Doctor (JD) preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in 401(k), 403b, and 457 plan compliance and administration
  • Extensive knowledge of ADP/ACP testing, top-heavy testing, IRC 415 limitations, and cross-testing methodologies
  • Proven experience with annual Form 5500 filings and related schedules

  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with clients, vendors, and internal departments including sales, marketing, HR, Finance, IT and other functional areas within MMA East and designated key accounts
  • Ability to interact with and focus on information gathering and collaborative solution development in a proactive manner
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Excellent troubleshooting, decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member; multitask and successfully operate in a fast-paced work environment; prioritize projects and meet deadlines
  • Ability to follow through on and successfully execute tasks while adhering to specified quality standards
  • Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Proficiency in use of PC such as keyboard skills and electronic folder/file organization and management
  • Aptitude for learning internal systems, applications and internal workflow of the department

WORK LOCATION

  • Work is typically in a hybrid manner based out of our Conshohocken, PA office.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $127,800 to $204,000.
The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
