Anticipated Hiring Range: $25-$30/hr.

Position Summary

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from assigned vendors, processing vendor invoices for Accounts Payable, and providing sales support. This role collaborates closely with the Inventory Control Specialist and Warehouse Manager to resolve vendor-related inventory issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Replenishment Buying / Product Sourcing – 60%

  • Achieve budgeted inventory fill rates, stock levels, and turnover rates within assigned vendor list
  • Monitor sales history to ensure proper stocking levels
  • Negotiate pricing, quantity breaks, and promotions with vendors
  • Maintain system product codes, including additions and deletions per guidelines
  • Verify purchase order pricing, including freight and additional costs
  • Coordinate merchandising and seasonal presentations in the showroom

Vendor Invoice Processing – 20%

  • Process vendor invoices promptly for Accounts Payable
  • Monitor vendor statements for past-due invoices
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies with vendors

Inventory Management Support – 20%

  • Assist with cycle counts, overstock, and deadstock management
  • Process and adjust inventory receipts in system
  • Assist in locating and researching inventory discrepancies

Other Duties – 10%

  • Provide product availability and pricing support for sales staff and customers
  • Review and correct gross margin, inventory, and pricing reports
  • Assist with sales calls and counter assistance
  • Train and mentor new employees within the buyer group
  • Collaborate with other buyers to ensure cohesive purchasing strategies

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in replenishment buying, preferably in the construction industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with SX Enterprise or similar ERP system preferred

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Environment: Constant work in a climate-controlled office setting
  • Physical Demands: Frequent sitting; occasional standing, bending, stooping, kneeling
  • Frequency Definitions: Constant = 75–100%, Frequent = 50–75%, Occasional = 25–50%, Rare = <25%
