We are looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Terminal Operator to join our Operations team at our Plymouth terminal. This is a permanent position reporting to the Shift Team Leader, working a rotating 12-hour day/night shift pattern (06:30–18:30 and 18:30–06:30), including off-shift cover. This is a hands-on role that involves both indoor and outdoor working, including work at height.
You’ll play a vital role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of our terminal. You will support a range of activities including jetty operations, first-line maintenance, permit-to-work processes, system start-ups/shutdowns, and effective communication during shift handovers. You’ll also be involved in incident control planning, audits, hazard studies, and liaising with contractors and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe and environmentally compliant operation of the terminal
- First line maintenance activities
- Completion of operational documents and records
- Responsible for the safe application and operation of the Permit to Work System and its application within Greenergy policies and procedures
- Contribution to shift terminal communication processes, fully participating in shift handovers
- Provide terminal system start-up and shutdowns, participating in terminal emergency shutdown actions
- Carry out process analysis, interpreting general plant and control room information and ensuring logs and documents are updated in a timely manner
- Takes a lead role in the supervision of assigned contract staff
- Reviews and develops operational procedures, and risk assessments.
- Works a 12-hour day/night shift pattern, including off-shift cover as detailed in the terminal shift rota
- Performs relevant duties under the Incident Control Plan
- Involvement in Hazard Studies, and Emergency training
- Support for external stakeholders, customers and visitors
- Jetty operations
- Auditing of drivers and contractors
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience of working outdoors, manual handling and working at height
- Ability to follow procedures and risk assessments, and confident to report and support any deficiencies found
- Proficient in the use Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Sets personal targets and tackles goals enthusiastically
