As a Community Champion, you will play an important role supporting St Petrocs in your local area.

Clients can access a range of facilities and support at our resource centres and houses across Cornwall.  Our supporters raise funds and provide donations to us in order that we can continue offering these services.  

As a Community Champion and depending on what you are comfortable doing, you may help us in your local area by raising awareness of our work through any clubs or organisations you may be involved in,  collecting donations, assisting at events, fundraising and representing St Petrocs. 

Requirements of the role will be flexible to your needs and availability. This role is ideal for those unable to give a set commitment each week.

Key Responsibilities

You will work closely with the Engagement Team providing support which may include:

1.  Being a representative of St Petrocs and attending events on our behalf either to talk about our work (if comfortable to do so) and/or receiving cheque donations.

2. Attending events and fundraising activities, including running a stall or display stand, or providing encouragement and help to our supporters when fundraising for us.

3. Be photographed receiving donations on behalf of St Petrocs for use in promotional materials by St Petrocs or giving organisation/individual.

4. Receiving /collecting monetary donations and gifts in kind to the charity in your local area and dropping off to our resource centre or head office.

5.  Talking about Petrocs services and activities and the work we do to individuals, group supporters and at meetings and events if comfortable to do so.

In order to volunteer with us, after registering/applying for this role you will be contacted to discuss the role further.  You will then be invited to attend an informal chat/taster session, where we can introduce you fully to St Petrocs and support you with onboarding as a volunteer for us if you wish to proceed further.

Volunteering should be accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or qualification. The only criteria we expect from someone in this role are detailed below:

Essential Criteria
  • Commitment to our service and client group.
  • Reliability and agreement on how much time you can commit to the role.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Confident and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Responsibility for own and others health and safety whilst undertaking the tasks.
  • Always represent St Petrocs in a professional manner. 
  • Be knowledgeable about the work of St Petrocs or eager to learn more and be confident when answering people’s questions. 
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • Able to deal with donations including monetary and gifts in kind following a set process of receiving and receipting.        
  • Can make own travel arrangements to required venues.
