About the job
Job DescriptionJoin us in creating the technology that helps the world act togetherWe are a B2B technology innovation leader pioneering the future where networks meet cloud. At Nokia you will have a positive impact on people’s lives and help build the capabilities needed for a more productive, sustainable, and accessible world. Be part of a culture built on an inclusive way of working where we are open to your ideas, you are empowered to take risks and are encouraged to be fearless in bringing your authentic self to work. The team you'll be part ofNokia Bell Labs is the world-renowned research arm of Nokia, having invented many of the foundational technologies that underpin information and communications networks and all digital devices and systems. This research has produced nine Nobel Prizes, five Turing Awards and numerous other awards.Within Bell Labs, the "Optical Systems & Devices Research” lab investigates forward-looking research activities for the preparation of the future optical transport networks that will interconnect data centers, cities and continents. Such networks will be expected to provide ever increasing capacity, flexibility and agility at reduced costs and energy impact. How You Will Contribute And What You Will LearnWhat you will learn and contribute toThe future optical fabric will offer digital services down to the physical network layer by introducing digital platforms to collect, visualize, analyze, and learn from data. It will support optical network digital twinning, which offers a virtual representation of the network to understand the network performance, anticipate issues, and meet customer expectations. Digital twin for synchronous optimizations and real-time network healing requires massive monitoring, performance predictions, local and centralized decision-making.In this internship, you will contribute as a researcher to make optical networks more secure and reliable. Different physical layer monitoring and environmental sensing techniques are available from the coherent receiver. You will work on investigating one of it in details as well as on aggregating them for a better anomaly detection and localization procedure. It includes both malicious fiber attacks and also unintentional events such as an excavator, and weather-relative events. If time permits, you will also work towards self-healing of the network. As part of our team, you will:
