Join CEDA as a UBR Eligibility Determination Specialist
Location: Central Office, Chicago, IL
Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Salary: $18/hour
The Community and Economic Development Association (CEDA) is a dynamic nonprofit organization committed to empowering communities and reducing poverty. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and mission-driven UBR Eligibility Determination Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will support the City of Chicago’s Utility Billing Relief (UBR) Program, which provides vital assistance to income-eligible residents.
What You’ll Do:
Review UBR applications and determine client eligibility in accordance with City, State, and CEDA policies.
Verify and investigate supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and case integrity.
Accurately enter, update, and correct client information in both City and CEDA databases.
Process critical and disconnected service applications promptly and in compliance with guidelines.
Draft clear, logical, and grammatically accurate case notes.
Conduct secondary reviews to identify intake and verification errors.
Respond to client inquiries and submissions in alignment with program standards.
Complete required forms, reports, tallies, and related administrative tasks.
Represent CEDA in a professional manner across a variety of internal and external engagements.
What We’re Looking For:
Required:
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams).
Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred:
One year of experience in Energy Assistance Programs or relevant social services.
Bilingual in English and Spanish (not required).
